Wow...it really has been a while since my last post! I've joined the throngs on Facebook, and apparently haven't looked back...since August anyway.

So this is a big week of appointments for Carter. He is having his hearing checked Tuesday afternoon since he isn't saying more than a couple of words yet. Lots and lots (and LOTS!) of babbling, but words - not so much. I'm not too concerned, since he follows commands and does lots of signing, but I'm happy to go through the evaluation in case there is anything that we can be doing in the meantime. Then on Friday morning, he is going to have his tear duct cleared - I didn't realize until talking to a friend that this involves anesthesia. So I'm a little nervous, but know that it will be ok. And Jamie's going to take the day off to be with us, which is nice.

What else? I have a new job - as a project manager in the online marketing team. Still BestBuy.com. It's going really well, and I'm enjoying it too. The pay increase is also nice. Running another 5K this Saturday...even though it's going to be cold. I'm going to have to get used to it, since I've committed to run a 5K every month until next September. Then I'll have done one per month for a whole year. I'm taking an online photography class that starts next Monday - I'm SO excited for it! I'm really looking forward to getting better pictures, and there's a little part of me that hopes that maybe someday I can take children and family photos as a side job. We'll see...

10 things Carter does right now that I LOVE:

  1. Tackles Tucker in order to "cuddle" him
  2. When he's ready for bed, he will bury his head in my shoulder and put his arms straight down
  3. Thinks that picking up his mega blocks is fun
  4. Is ok with me wiping his hands before taking him out of the high chair
  5. Waves goodbye at the TV when an episode of The Backyardigans is ending, and they say "See ya later!"
  6. "Helps" Daddy with a lot of things, but really loves to help with the sprinklers
  7. Is really good about going up to bed at bedtime - when we say "Let's go upstairs" he can't go fast enough
  8. Clinks his extra pacifiers together before falling asleep and when waking up
  9. Finds joy in pointing out the bubbles on a page of one of his favorite books
  10. When he snuggles in at night before bed, he will put his hand on my arm and pat it...so sweet!

I went to a class at the gym today, and my form was off when I was doing chest presses - enough that my neck hurt. So I figured I'd take a really hot shower afterwards to try and work out some of the kink. I was rubbing it with my hand, and then because my skin was wet it slipped. But I was rubbing apparently with enough force to create what now looks like some sort of domestic violence bruise. Ugh. Now I'll have to defend Jamie...no really, he wasn't trying to choke me...

Really quick update while I wait for a report to run at work...

Jamie's grandpa passed away on Friday morning. The service was held yesterday morning, and was very nice. Everyone was just really glad that he isn't suffering anymore, and rejoicing that he is in heaven now!

More updates to come soon...promise.

It's snowing! Although it sounds like we're not going to get as much as originally thought.

So, let's see...what's been going on?

  • We've started a beginner Bible study in the neighborhood after the Christmas Gathering - and I'm leading it. There are three new women that have joined and that have never done a Bible study before. It's also the first time I've led a Bible study...we'll see how I do. I mean, with leading. I'm just relying on God to use me, since I sort of bumble through otherwise.
  • I'm doing ok so far on my FAB study journey - I've lost almost 10 pounds in a little more than 3 weeks. I've actually found it fairly easy to make going to the gym a habit, and on the days that I end up not making it when I thought I would be able to (but with meetings and other things that come up...can't) I find myself missing it. Eating has been a little harder. There have been a couple of days that I've definitely exceeded what is supposed to be my calorie limit - 1800. And I'm still not making all good choices with my calories. But I have not let myself get completely derailed after a slip up, which is good for me.
  • I am looking forward to another meeting for the Women's Advisory Board at the hospital where I delivered Carter. We meet quarterly, and I'm excited for what we're going to discuss and plan - I had a fantastic time at the last meeting.
  • We're going to Duluth this weekend - mainly to visit Jamie's grandpa. Hopefully Carter stays well enough to see his great grandpa!
  • I've been trying to be a little less obsessed with being online/on the computer all the time...some days it works, some days it doesn't.
  • I am obsessed with John Mayer...can't...stop...listening....

There's probably more that I'm leaving out, but considering I haven't updated in three weeks, I guess it's better than nothing!

Here's a question - do you and your spouse/significant other exchange gifts for valentine's day?

Oh yeah - and here's some new photos...

Who knew those quizzes that you get tagged for (or borrow from others) actually had a name? Yep...'meme' . So in honor of that, here goes...

What were you doing 10 years ago? I'd just gotten back from my college choir trip to Kenya & Tanzania. I am in denial that it's been 10 years...what an amazing trip.

What were you doing 1 year ago? Being pregnant...and loving it!

Five snacks you enjoy? Well, they're not snacks I'll be able to enjoy so much any more, now that I'm doing the FAB study, but I really like popcorn, swedish fish, m&m's, cheddar munchies (doritos, cheetos, sun chips and pretzels), and dulce de leche Hagen Daaz

Five songs you know all the lyrics to? Only five? Too hard to pick...I'll have to have an addendum on a later post.

Five things you'd do if you were a millionaire? Meet with a financial planner and set aside enough to earn some good interest somewhere, pay off my parents' debt, pay off my own debt, travel, donate

Five bad habits: Procrastinating, not keeping in touch with friends as much as I should, letting the laundry pile up, picking my cuticles, grinding my teeth when I'm upset

Five things you like doing: Hanging out with my family, scrapbooking, other crafty stuff, playing with my camera, watching movies

Five things you would never wear again: pinned and/or rolled pants, zubaz, hypercolor shirts, jumpers, tap shoes

Five favorite toys: Cabbage Patch Kids, Sit & Spin, Speak & Spell, Transformers, my scooter

I love to read other people's blogs. I don't know why, but I find it so interesting to get a glimpse into other people's lives. One that I found recently that is completely addictive and extremely hilarious is Confessions of a Pioneer Woman. I especially love some of the audio clips...I've laughed out loud.

What blogs do you go to on a regular basis? What keeps you going back?

seek.

This is my one little word for 2008. Something for me to remember, to hang on to, to proclaim throughout the year. So many ways for me to apply this to many aspects of my life...

seek: Christ. balance. creativity. opportunities. quality. health. motivation.

Things I'm going to work towards this year:

  • Carving out more time for daily study in the Word
  • Creating one scrapbook page per week (on average; 52 for the year)
  • A photo challenge - taking a self portrait every day for the whole year...nervous about this one!
  • Consistent workouts each week
  • Thinking more consciously about how to spend our family time together
  • Somehow staying motivated to make all of this work...guess that's why I said I'm going to work towards it.

Happy 2008 everyone...
